Suspect caught after escaping police custody at hospital while handcuffed

MILLCREEK, Utah — Police say an aggravated robbery suspect is back in custody after he escaped officers while handcuffed at St. Mark’s Hospital.
Lt. Nate Lord with the Unified Police Department said officers responded to a Midvale sports store on reports of an aggravated robbery on Wednesday. The suspect was quickly identified and located by police officers in Murray.
Murray police took the man into custody before officers took him to St. Mark’s Hospital to be treated for undisclosed reasons.

Lord said the suspect then escaped police custody while in handcuffs. An officer chased after the man but lost him.
A K-9 officer was deployed to help search for the suspect, who was taken back into custody after a nearby resident alerted police that the man was hiding in their backyard.
Officials said the man could face additional charges for fleeing.
