Texas man in Amber Alert arrested for kidnapping Utah girl

A man identified as 20-year-old Frank David Lopez-Orellana is facing charges of kidnapping and rape after he took a girl from Magna, Utah to Texas with him according to court documents.
The mother of the girl taken said she had been informed by friends of the girl that her daughter had left with a 20-year-old man and “he was possibly going to take her to another state.”
The girl left her mother a note saying she “wanted to leave and would make her mother proud by leaving.”
Friends of the girl also told police they had met up with her to say goodbye before she left to Texas with her “boyfriend, David” who was later identified as Lopez-Orellana.
Upon notifying Unified Police, an Amber Alert was issued on March 22. A short while later, the girl was located with Lopez-Orellana in San Antonio, Texas.
According to charging documents, Lopez-Orellana acknowledged that he met the girl online and had been communicating with her daily through multiple social media platforms, “even after he learned she was 14 years old.” Lopez-Orellana admitted to police he traveled from his home in San Antonio, Texas to Utah to meet up with the girl with the intention of taking her back for “a physical relationship.”
He also revealed that he and the girl had sex on the way to Texas and would “exchange intimate and sexually explicit photos and videos” during their relationship.
Court documents explain that Lopez-Orellana, who is originally from Honduras, and is “currently in deportation status out of Houston, Texas and is in the United State illegally.”
Lopez-Orellana is currently being held without bail for the two first-degree felonies.
