High river flow forces closure of Narrows at Zion Canyon

ZION NATIONAL PARK, Utah – Rangers at Zion National Park closed the Narrows Sunday because of high river flows.
The closure affected all routes out of the Narrows.
Officials with the park did not say how long the closure would last.
CLOSURE: Due to high river flow, The Narrows and all routes that exit through The Narrows are currently closed.

A post on the park’s website said rangers close the Narrows when the Virgin River flow rate is more than 150 cubic feet per second or during the spring snowmelt.
The Narrows is one of the most popular areas in Zion National Park.
