SALT LAKE CITY — A new, interactive dashboard is helping Utahns keep tabs on neighborhood crime.
The tool, which was released by the Utah Department of Public Safety Monday, allows users to view and sort crime data by jurisdiction or law enforcement agency.
In it, you’ll find a wide range of crimes happening in your own backyard.
There’s about five years worth of data in the system, and officials said they’ll update it monthly.
“We are constantly looking for ways to be more transparent,” said Jess Anderson, commissioner of the Utah Department of Public Safety. “Transparency builds trust. This type of easy access to nearly real-time data will help anyone to better understand crime trends in their communities.”
