SOUTH OGDEN, Utah — An arrest warrant has been issued for a 37-year-old woman who police say took her 4-year-old child from South Ogden before a court-ordered custody exchange.
Officials with the South Ogden Police Department said officers were called Monday to the 5700 block of South Maplewood Drive on a court-ordered child custody exchange.
The court order gave custody of 4-year-old Wyatt Pearce to his father, and directed law enforcement to assist in removing him from the custody of his mother, Taryn Pearce. But she fled the area with the child.
“Officers learned that Taryn, Wyatt and a boyfriend stayed at a local hotel in Ogden the night of the 4th,” read a press release Tuesday afternoon from the South Ogden Police Department.
Authorities said Taryn Pearce and Wyatt checked out around 8:50 a.m. Tuesday. An arrest warrant was then issued for Taryn Pearce by the 2nd District Court on a charge of first-degree felony, child kidnapping
Taryn, 37, is described as 5-foot-4, 120 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Wyatt, 4, is 3-foot-2, approximately 40 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.
“Wyatt is not believed to be in danger, so the case does not meet criteria for an Amber Alert,” the release stated.
Details about the type of vehicle Taryn Pearce and Wyatt may be in were not immediately available. Police said the woman’s boyfriend has been interviewed. Anyone with information on Taryn Pearce or Wyatt’s whereabouts has been asked to call Weber County Dispatch at 801-395-8221.
