Pay attention, police launch distracted driver blitz this weekend

SALT LAKE CITY – Nearly 20 law enforcement agencies will be on the prowl for distracted drivers this weekend in Salt Lake and Utah Counties.
Police agencies will participate in over 100 additional shifts as a distracted driving blitz gets underway.

The need became all too real earlier this week when a truck smashed into a Sandy home.
The driver told police he was watching a YouTube video while driving when he lost control and crashed Tuesday.
As a part of the blitz, officers will sit in an unmarked van looking for drivers violating Utah’s distracted driving laws.

Officers will communicate to marked units and have them stop the distracted drivers.
Those drivers could be cited.
