Two injured after driving off 100 foot cliff in North Ogden Canyon

WEBER COUNTY, Utah— Both a driver and passenger were injured after driving into the barrier and off of a cliff in North Ogden Canyon, falling 100 feet.
According to Weber County Sheriff’s Office, Mark Horton, police became aware of a reckless driver driving at high speeds nearby the North Ogden Canyon around 9:30 p.m.
Soon after that, they received a call that the car hit a barrier and drove off a cliff.
Both the driver and passenger had to be extracted from the car, one with minor injuries and one with critical injuries.
The victim with critical injuries was flown by helicopter to the hospital while the other was transported by ambulance.
Their identities and genders are not being released at this time, however police said one was a 20-year-old and one was 19.
It is unknown which had the more serious injuries.
Around 5:15 p.m., the Weber County Sheriff’s Office said the North Ogden Divide would be closed Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for investigation follow up.
“There will be no thru traffic available during this time,” read a Facebook post from the agency.
