MILLCREEK, Utah— A man sitting on his motorcycle was intentionally hit by a driver who then fled the scene, according to police.
Court documents state that the event occurred on March 27. Officers responded to a call of a motorcyclist being ran over intentionally. Police arrived on scene and made contact with the victim, who was “transported by ambulance to the hospital.”
The victim told police he was sitting on his motorcycle when he “heard a car accelerate straight at him and the driver, later identified as Kenneth Eugene Cordova, had a look of hate on his face.”
Video surveillance shows the moment of impact; the victim was hit, then flew onto the front windshield of the vehicle, then onto the roof and back onto the ground in front of the vehicle.
After hitting the victim with his car, Cordova is seen exiting the vehicle and “began to punch and kick” the victim multiple times.
Cordova then fled the scene in his car, which was recovered approximately one hour later in Murray, Utah.
The victim stated he had “never seen the suspect before and had no interaction with him prior to the incident.”
When Cordova was interviewed by police, he told them he had encountered the victim several minutes before and that the victim had a gun in his hand.
Cordova stated he “got to his car, which was parked outside of the apartment complex, drove back into the complex and ran him over. He felt he had to ‘kill or be killed.'”
Court documents state, “there is no evidence the victim had a gun.”
Cordova faces one charge of attempted murder, a first degree felony.
