Two counties are reminding people to obey road closure signs and drive only on appropriate roads after two cars needed rescuing.

In Wasatch County, their search and rescue team shared the following post after rescuing a stranded vehicle several miles up on a snowmobile trail.

The suburban was located at Snake Creek in Washington County in the middle of a blizzard.

Iron County search and rescue crews also made a public plea on social media for drivers to obey road closed signs after sharing the following experience.

On Feb. 6, the Iron County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned citizen about an abandoned vehicle on Summit Mountain Road, which is closed during the winter season, in the town of Summit.

Deputies made efforts to reach the deserted car, but was unsuccessful since the road is not maintained during the winter and conditions were snowy and icy.

Iron County Search and Rescue responded to ensure there were no “injured parties” in the car. Upon arrival to the road, the owners of the car were located and “were going to attempt to hike to the vehicle and get it unstuck.”

According to Iron County Search and Rescue’s Facebook post, “Members of Iron County SAR transported the owner of the vehicle to allow them to retrieve any personal property and then instructed them to contact a 4×4 rescue tow company to remove the vehicle. Please obey road closure signs. This is for the safety of the public and our first responders.”
