SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — All lanes in both directions of Interstate 80 closed Tuesday in Summit County due to a semi rollover and hazmat spill.
The rollover occurred just after 4 p.m. and Tollgate residents were asked to stay indoors.

Officials with the Utah Highway Patrol said the driver hit a turn too fast and rolled.
“It does happen occasionally within this canyon,” said UHP Lt. Randall Richey.
The semi was hauling an organic peroxide in the cab that caught on fire.

The Park City Fire Department made the decision to let the material burn because of the risk for explosion and difficulty they could face putting it out.
UHP officials told KSL the semi driver sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.
At 6:45 p.m., Summit County officials said the shelter in place for Tollgate residents had been lifted, but roads in and out of Tollgate remain closed.
“Summit County Emergency Management is coordinating shelters for Tollgate residents if closures last later into the night,” read the city’s tweet.
