Biden grants clemency for two Utahns with distributing meth charges

SALT LAKE CITY — President Joe Biden is granting clemency to 78 people, including two Utahns, according to the Department of Justice.
In 2016, Karen Cox from Salt Lake City was charged with conspiracy to distribute meth in Wyoming, the press release from the DOJ said.
She was sentenced to about ten years of imprisonment, five years of supervised release afterward, and paid a $900 fine.
Cox’s prison time ends on April 2023, but she has to serve the rest of her sentence under house arrest, according to the DOJ. The other parts of her sentence are still in effect.
The second Utahn is Martin R Vandemerwe from Price, who was charged with intent to distribute meth in Utah in 2009, according to the release.
Vandemerwe was sentenced to 20 years of prison time, with five years of supervised release.
His imprisonment also ends in April 2023, with the rest of the time served under house arrest.
