Six juveniles in custody after a carjacking and police chase

MURRAY, Utah — Murray City Police said six juveniles are in custody after what began as a carjacking, ended with a police pursuit and crash.
According to a release from Murray City Police Department, just before midnight, two people walking in the area of 4100 West and 3800 South in West Valley City were robbed at gunpoint.
The suspects took their car and money and fled the scene.
The victims of the carjacking later found their car at “an undisclosed location in West Valley City and followed the suspects into Murray.”
At some point, the victims attempted to retrieve their car by blocking them in in the parking lot of the Studio 6 at 975 East Winchester Street. However, the suspects backed into the car blocking them in and sped off on Winchester.
The release states, “An individual from the group attempting to get the vehicle back grabbed onto the to the vehicle as it left in an effort to stop it. The individual proceeded to hang onto the vehicle and as it was in motion the occupants assaulted him. The vehicle then turned north onto 725 East and as it slowed, the victim fell off of the vehicle and was drug a short distance.”
The suspects then continued to flee.
A short time later, Unified Police Department in Millcreek found the vehicle and began a pursuit of the vehicle at around 3500 South and 700 East.
“The pursuit went through several jurisdictions where it ultimately ended in Murray, just south of Winchester on the I-215 overpass (State Street), in a crash involving one of the pursuing agencies police vehicles. All six juvenile occupants were taken into custody at the scene.”
It was an eventful night last night for TVPD Officer CJ Moore. The evening began around 11:45 p.m. in West Valley City where a carjacking occurred, followed by a violent attempted homicide in Murray involving the same suspects.
