Utah County responds to two search and rescue calls over the weekend

UTAH COUNTY, Utah – Search and rescue crews responded to two separate calls of hikers needing help this weekend in Utah County canyons.
According to Utah County Sheriff’s office Spencer Cannon, the first rescue happened in the Provo Canyon on Saturday when a climber needed help getting down.
Utah DPS’s helicopter flew to the canyon, and crews helped the climber down safely with no injuries.
The second rescue happened on Sunday when a women hiker slipped on ice into a scree field where they got stuck, according to North Fork Fire Department.
Life Flight crews responded, and she was hoisted out to safety. She was treated for hypothermia and minor injuries but was cleared by medical crews.
