Motorcyclist killed, passenger in critical condition after hitting antelope

GARFIELD COUNTY, Utah — A man was killed Monday morning after hitting an antelope and losing control of the motorcycle he was driving. A passenger with him remains in “extremely critical condition.”
According to a release, around 9:45 a.m. a Harley-Davidson motorcycle with two people was heading west on State Route 12, near milepost 11 when an antelope jumped in front of the motorcycle.
The motorcycle hit the antelope and lost control, ejecting both occupants.
The driver sustained, “fatal injuries at the scene, the passenger was taken by ambulance and then flown to a local hospital in extremely critical condition.”
Although both were wearing helmets, the release stated they were “heavily damaged.”
No names are being released at this time, pending notification to family.
