CEDAR CITY, Utah — A mother and her boyfriend have been arrested after being accused of raping a 14-year-old girl to have a child.
Cedar City police say Breonna S. and her boyfriend Tanner Trammell were both arrested and booked into the Iron County Jail on first-degree felony charges of raping a child.
KSL TV has chosen to withhold the mother’s last name to protect the teen’s identity.
According to court documents, the 15-year-old victim told police her mother’s boyfriend had sexual intercourse with her and her mother on two occasions at a Cedar City hotel.
“The child stated that the boyfriend wanted children and her mother is no longer able to have them herself so they were going to use her as a surrogate by having the boyfriend get her pregnant,” police said.
Court documents say the mother, after being read her Miranda rights, admitted to the plan and said it was her boyfriend’s idea. Police say the mother said she went along with it because her boyfriend told her she had to.
Officers said they also interviewed Trammell, who, after being read his Miranda rights, admitted to having sex with the teen on multiple occasions.
He allegedly told police it was his girlfriend’s idea and he went along with it because she wanted more children and could no longer have them herself.
Court documents add Trammell allegedly told police that “Breonna told him to get her daughter pregnant.”
