WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — One person was killed and another was critically injured in a head-on, wrong-way crash on state Route 201 early Sunday morning.
Officials with the Utah Highway Patrol said a silver Chevy Malibu was traveling east in the westbound lanes near 3400 West when it hit a gray Ford Ecosport head-on just after 1 a.m.
Troopers say the Malibu’s driver was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the Ecosport was hospitalized in critical condition.
Westbound S.R. 201 was closed for several hours while investigators were on scene. Alcohol impairment is being investigated in the case of the wrong-way vehicle.
