Woman killed in head-on crash on SR-59

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah — A woman has died following a head-on collision on state Route 59 in Washington County.

The fatal crash occurred near milepost 9 around 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Officials with the Utah Highway Patrol said a pickup truck was traveling eastbound on S.R. 59 when it drifted over the center and into the westbound lanes. The truck then collided head-on with a pickup, killing the female passenger in the front seat of the westbound-moving vehicle.

“The drivers of both trucks were transported to a local hospital with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries,” stated a press release from UHP.

Fatigue is being investigated as a contributor to the crash, according to UHP.

The victim’s identity has not been released.
