YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. — Yellowstone National Park will partially reopen to visitors on Wednesday.
Only the southern loop of the park, which includes popular tourist sites like Old Faithful, Norris and Fishing Bridge, will be opened.
The northern loop is still closed due to damage from last week’s floods.
“One thing that we definitely know is that half the park cannot support all of the visitations,” said Cam Sholly, Yellowstone National Park superintendent.
To better manage visitation during the busy season, park managers have devised a plan called the alternating license plate system.

If the last number of your license plate is even, you are allowed in on even-numbered days.
Cars with license plates that end with an odd number can get in on odd-numbered days.
If you have a vanity plate or a regular license plate with all letters and no numbers, you fall into the odd-numbered category.
Those license plates that end with a letter, but have numbers, the last number on the plate is what counts.
Motorcycle groups that often visit Yellowstone will be allowed in on odd-numbered days.
Those with reservations in the park are exempt from the alternating license plate system.
