Utah man kicked out of yoga studio fires gun in multiple cities

SALT LAKE CITY — Multiple shots were fired across the Salt Lake Valley Wednesday.
Police said it started around 8:30 a.m. in the Olympus Cove area of Holladay and ended at a yoga studio in Salt Lake City.

Police said the suspect was once a member of the yoga studio — Kirtan Center Bhakti Yoga Temple & Ashram. He became aggressive with some of the members and employees and was asked to no longer come back.
Before getting to the studio Wednesday, police said the suspect made other stops.
They said shots were first fired at a residence on Longmont.
Shortly after that, police said shots were fired into the air at the Chevron on Wasatch Boulevard at 3900 South.
Then, police said the suspect moved to the Macy’s on 4500 South.
After pulling the trigger at those places, police said he ended up at the yoga studio.
“We know he went inside of the yoga studio, where there was a physical altercation with one of the employees. That employee received minor injuries and he will be fine,” Unified Police Department Sgt. Melody Cutler said.
When police got there, they said they were able to track the suspect inside his car outside the yoga studio. They then took him into custody.
Police said the investigation is ongoing. Currently, they said they have not yet secured the suspect’s weapon.
In addition, police said the suspect lives nearby and they intend to get a search warrant.
