DAYBREAK, Utah — After reports of geese dying in Daybreak, avian flu was confirmed in four dead geese there according to the Division of Wildlife Resources on Friday.
Ginger Stout, DWR Wildlife Veterinarian said there has been more illnesses and deaths than that, but those cases are suspected cases and not confirmed.
They also suspect the bird flu has been affecting ducks there as well.
There’s “not a ton we can do for avian flu,” but she said best practices are:
- Don’t feed the ducks
- Don’t touch dead birds
- Keep your dogs and animals away from birds
DWR is working on installing signs with these tips in the area.
