DAVIS COUNTY, Utah — A 31-year-old man died early Tuesday morning after he crashed while on his motorcycle, then was struck by three vehicles in Davis County.
The incident happened around 12:55 a.m. Tuesday.
Officials with the Utah Highway Patrol said a Yamaha motorcycle was merging onto Interstate 15 from U.S. Route 89 in North Salt Lake when the driver lost control and struck a concrete barrier on the right-hand side.
The motorcyclist fell off the bike and slid into lane two, according to troopers, while the bike continued northbound and slid into the HOV lane.
The man was then struck by a sedan. Troopers said the impact pushed him into the HOV lane where he, as well as the bike, were then struck by a pickup truck.
“The impact pushed the male into lane one where he was struck again by another sedan,” a press release from UHP stated Tuesday.
The 31-year-old motorcyclist died as a result of his injuries.
Troopers said northbound I-15 was closed at milepost 312 for approximately four hours during the investigation.
The victim’s name has not been released.
