Clinton house fire displaces family; no injuries reported

CLINTON, Utah — A family has been displaced from their home after a garbage can caught on fire Sunday night.
According to Chief David Olson with the Clinton City Fire Department, crews arrived at the house fully engulfed in flames on 1654 W. 600 North around 10 p.m.
First responders took down the fire within 45 minutes after arriving.
Olson said the family was barbequing earlier that night and threw away the coals that they thought were cold. However, the coals were still hot and caught the garbage can on fire which spread to the house.
Damages are estimated at $300,000, and the house is considered a total loss.
No one was injured, and all family members, including pets, are safe. The family is displaced but is staying with extended family members.
