One of Roberts’ neighbors, Dean Twitchell, said they had been neighbors for over 20 years, adding that Roberts was the best neighbor and friend he could ask for.
“Mike is just one of those guys that keeps to himself, but behind the scenes, he teaches his kids to serve and teaches them to love others,” Twitchell said. “He is just a good man.”
Twitchell said Roberts loved his family and loved riding his bike.
“He rode it everywhere; it didn’t matter if the weather was bad,” he said.
Twitchell said Roberts was involved in another bike accident a few years ago, where he was struck by a semi-truck.
“He recovered and it was so nice seeing him out riding his bike again and enjoying life,” he said.
Twitchell said Roberts had eight kids, and all of them are just as incredible as he was.
“No matter what you need, they’re always there,” he said. “You talk about a service family and that’s a family that loved service.”
Twitchell says he hopes the Roberts family know “we are always here.”
A GoFundMe* page has been set up for the family.
