OREM, Utah — A 28-year-old bicyclist died after he was struck by a vehicle on University Parkway Monday evening.

Orem police said the man was riding westbound on University Parkway when he was hit near 900 West — between Sandhill Road and the northbound Interstate 15 onramp.

Witnesses told police the man fell off his bike and into traffic, and the vehicle to his left had no time to swerve out of the way and struck the man.

The bicyclist suffered multiple injuries and was transported to Utah Valley Hospital, where he later died.

The driver and witnesses were cooperating with police and the crash is still under investigation.

Police said more information on the bicyclist would be released after family members are contacted.
