UPDATE: Police found missing man dead

UPDATE – Unified police confirmed that Stanton Porter was found dead in a shed on his family property on Sunday around 11:30 a.m.
Police originally believed that Porter might have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but later corrected that it’s believed to be an overdose.
The Porter family issued this statement:
It is with heavy heart we announce Stanton Porter was found deceased this morning. The family would like to express our profound appreciation to friends, neighbors, volunteers, law enforcement and everyone who has assisted with the search effort. Stanton was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, veteran, and healthcare worker who provided selfless service to our country, community and family. Our love for him is infinite. We have so many wonderful memories of Stanton. Please share yours with us at Finding Stanton Porter on Facebook so we can collect these and create a book for his three-year-old daughter Elle.
MILLCREEK, Utah — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a 43-year-old man.
Stanton Porter has been missing from the Millcreek area of Salt Lake County since Thursday afternoon, according to the missing persons poster.
“He has been missing for over 24 hours and thought to be in the area of the Mount Olympus Trailhead,” read a Friday afternoon Facebook post from the Unified Police Department Millcreek Precinct.
“He may be withdrawing from alcohol and may be carrying a firearm,” read a Friday afternoon Facebook post from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
Porter is described as 5 feet 10, approximately 170 pounds, with red hair, braces, and tattoos on his left chest and right upper back.
According to the missing persons poster, he was wearing gray shorts and a dark gray t-shirt.
