WEBER COUNTY, Utah — A man is in custody for assaulting a woman and posting an explicit video of her to her public social media.
The man was identified as 20-year-old Jeremy Ramirez.
According to a probable cause statement, on Aug. 11, a fight broke out between Ramirez and the woman. The woman admitted to slapping Ramirez but then being tackled to the ground, where Ramirez bit her arm so hard she cried out in pain and begged him to stop.
When she finally broke free, she ran to the bathroom and locked the door.
Within the bathroom, the woman texted someone for help before Ramirez kicked the door open, snatched her phone away, and “snapped her iPhone in half.”
The person she texted for help responded to the home and said they “found the house destroyed, the doors broken, and [the woman] beat up.”
A few days later, the man and woman got into another argument, at which point she left the address, according to the statement.
While she was gone, Ramirez destroyed “the victim’s clothing, makeup, and other personal items. The total amount lost was approximately $4,000.”
Ramirez also gave the woman an iPhone 8 to use since he had broken her previous phone.
The next day, on Aug. 13, Ramirez asked the woman to return the phone, which she did, but advised Ramirez she was still logged into her social media accounts.
According to the statement, Ramirez then accessed the social media accounts and “publicly shared a video of the victim” that was explicit.
When police placed Ramirez in custody, they located two iPhones and an electronic cigarette in his pocket, which Ramirez said was marijuana THC concentrate.
Ramirez is being held on suspicion of two counts of criminal mischief with loss of $1,500-$5,000, distribution of pornographic film, distribution of an intimate image, possession of controlled substance marijuana/spice, and assault.
