SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — A chase through the south end of the Salt Lake Valley caps off three days of searching for Josh Minson’s stolen truck.
Minson’s truck was stolen over the weekend, and surprisingly, he had spotted it several times since Sunday. He even chased the suspect with police on the phone, but the suspect got away.
Then, Tuesday night, a friend called and told him he had just spotted the truck being chased by police. Minson got out his police scanner to see if he could hear what was going on. Sure enough, he heard the chase.
“We hear they’re going toward Daybreak,” Minson said. “At this point, they’ve gone through Bangerter. They’ve already spiked the tires. He kept going.”
Once in Daybreak, the driver, who police say was Trent Michael Kezior, rammed the truck into a curb.
“It was mind-blowing to stand there,” Minson said.
The truck was down to the rims and it caught fire.
“So, this guy’s in my truck for 20+ minutes engulfed in flames, revving and trying to get away. Mind you, my wheel was against the curb with no tire,” Minson said.
Kezior ultimately got out and tried to run before getting tackled to the ground by police.
Now, Josh just hopes Kezior stays behind bars and is glad no one was hurt.
“At the end of the day, I don’t care about the truck,” Minson said. “None of the officers were hurt. None of the citizens were hurt. There was no real property damage anywhere, which, to me, is amazing.”
