UPDATE: Fire evacuations in Ogden lifted

UPDATE: Officials with the Ogden Fire Department say evacuations will be lifted at 9 p.m. Tuesday as structures are “no longer at risk.”
Fire is around 30% contained, structures are no longer at risk and evacuations will be lifted at 9 tonight. We appreciate all the community support and support from other fire agencies.

The Rainbow Fire, now dubbed the Valley Fire, has burned nine acres and is approximately 25-30% contained.
According to state fire officials, 30 homes were evacuated off Valley Drive, west of Rainbow Garden, and no structures were damaged.

OGDEN, Utah — Around 25 homes have been evacuated in Ogden due to a fast-moving grass fire.
Officials with the Ogden Fire Department say the Rainbow Fire is burning between Valley Drive and 20th Street.
Approximately five to seven acres have burned as of 4:50 p.m. Tuesday.

The cause of the fire, which is burning in heavy vegetation at the mouth of Ogden Canyon near Rainbow Gardens, remains under investigation.

The public has been asked to avoid the area while crews fight the flames.
Local fire officials said any residents evacuated due to the Rainbow Fire can seek shelter at a Latter-day Saint Church located at 1550 Rushton Street.
