SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the location for two U.S. temples, as well as a groundbreaking date for the Heber Valley Utah Temple.

Heber Valley Utah Temple

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Heber Valley Utah Temple will be held Saturday, Oct. 8.

Elder Kevin R. Duncan, Temple Department executive director, will preside over the event, according to Church officials.

The temple — which was announced by Church President Russell M. Nelson during the October 2021 General Conference — will be built on a 17.9-acre site located southeast of 1400 East Center Street in Heber City, Utah.

Officials say it will be three stories and approximately 88,000 square feet.

The Heber Valley Utah Temple is the 28th temple in Utah, including other locations — whether announced, under construction, renovation or in operation — in Bountiful, Brigham City, Cedar City, Deseret Peak, Draper, Ephraim, Jordan River, Layton, Lindon, Logan, Manti, Monticello, Mont Timpanogos, Ogden, Oquirrh Mountain, Orem, Payson, Provo City Center, Provo, Red Cliffs, Salt Lake, Saratoga Springs, Smithfield, St. George, Syracuse, Taylorsville and Vernal.

Teton River Idaho Temple

Officials announced Monday the Teton River Idaho Temple will be built on a 16.6-acre site northwest of Second East 2000 North in Rexburg, Idaho.

Plans show the temple will be three stories and approximately 130,000 square feet.

It will be the city’s second temple after the Rexburg Idaho Temple, and the eighth temple in Idaho, including other locations in Boise, Burley, Idaho Falls, Meridian, Montpelier, Pocatello, Rexburg and Twin Falls.

The Teton River Idaho Temple was announced by President Nelson during the October 2021 General Conference.

A rendering for that temple has not been released.
