TOOELE, Utah — An armed robbery in the area led Tooele school district to place three schools on lockout Tuesday afternoon.
The action was taken shortly after an armed robbery at Sandy’s Gifts at 80 Vine Street according to a Facebook post by the Tooele Police Department.
The suspect fled west on Vine Street.
However, the post incorrectly stated the schools were on lockdown. KSL spoke with the school district which clarified the schools were only placed on lock out, meaning all outer doors were locked and no one was being allowed in or out of the school buildings.
Because the robbery was close to the scene Tooele High School and Toole Junior High were placed on lockout as well as Northlake Elementary.
Police said the action was taken as a precaution and not because of any direct threat.
