MIDVALE, Utah — Students at Copperview Elementary School will not attend classes in person on Friday due to an ongoing police presence near the school.
“At the request of police, and for the safety of the school community, Copperview will have a remote-learning day today,” read a tweet from the Canyons School District.

District spokesperson Jeff Heaney said Copperview is the only school moving to remote learning for the day.
“It’s really a precaution and we are working hand-in-hand with police on their investigation,” Heaney said. But just to be safe, and also to make sure that we’re reducing the traffic in that area, we pivoted to the online learning schedule today.”
Kids can go to Midvale Elementary School for school breakfast and lunch.
Copperview Elementary students who need breakfast or lunch today can go to Midvale Elementary, 7830 Chapel St. Breakfast is from 8 to 8:40 a.m. Lunch is served from 10:50 to 1 p.m. The meals will be served at no cost to the student.
