SALT LAKE CITY — In an effort to enhance children’s health, Intermountain Healthcare is launching a new campaign. It’s called “Primary Promise” and it’s the largest public campaign the organization has taken on.
With a growing number of kids in Utah and throughout the Intermountain West also comes more patients needing care with complex physical and emotional needs.
The Primary Promise can be broadly broken down into three areas. These areas include strengthening the hospital with new additions and research activities. It also includes bringing expert care closer to home through a second Primary Children’s Hospital in Lehi and tele-health, taking an innovative approach to mental and behavioral health service, and so much more.
With a minimum goal of $600 million to bring this vision to life, since 2020, $464 million have already been raised.

It’s a mission that is personal for Steve Lund, co-founder and executive board chair of Nu Skin Enterprises, whose family once walked through the doors with their son.
“What we do here isn’t really motivated. The giving that we give isn’t motivated by pity or by pain or by tears or by difficulty. This is a sacred place because the outcomes are so wonderful. That little announcement, ‘Your son is sick and his outcomes are unsure,’ that was the worst day of our lives. This is a place people come to have the worst day of their lives. We can walk a couple hundred feet right now and find people who are , right now, having the worst day of their lives. This is such a remarkable place,” he said.
Community and Intermountain Healthcare leaders are inviting the public to support Primary Promise, which they say will pave the way for good for generations.
