SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Transportation appears to be offering another design idea for Utah’s new flag.
“A little disappointed the design committee chose not to include the state flower on the new Utah flag. This is what we proposed. Smh,” read a 4:20 p.m. Tuesday tweet from UDOT, along with a picture of the flag.

The post comes five days after the Utah State Flag Commission selected a design very similar to the one UDOT proposed. The flag features a beehive in a gold hexagon on horizontal bands of blue, white and red.
If that design is approved by the Utah Legislature early next year, it will become Utah’s new flag.
UDOT is responsible for roads and other modes of transportation for the state. It currently has more than 40 projects underway statewide.
It also has a traffic map and more than 700 cameras available on this page. It uses Twitter and other social media platforms to broadcast information about safety issues and probable traffic conditions.
