One arrested after man found dead in Tooele apartment

TOOELE, Utah — A 60-year-old man died Thursday morning and Tooele police say one person has been arrested.
Officials with the Tooele Police Department said officers were dispatched to a basement apartment in the area of Date Street and Third Street at approximately 2:25 a.m. and found a 55-year-old man, who was not conscious and not breathing.
The victim was later pronounced dead despite life-saving attempts from first responders.
“Due to the extent of the injuries, we are investigating this case as a homicide,” police said. “Our investigations unit, along with the State Crime Lab, are still currently investigating the matter.”
Richard Perales, of Tooele, was booked into the Tooele County Detention Center on charges of homicide and aggravated domestic violence.
Cpl. Colbey Bentley said Perales was the victim’s roommate, and Perales was taken into custody without incident.
