OREM, Utah — Two people were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a car at the intersection of 400 South and 400 West in Orem.
The Orem Police Department on Thursday confirmed an 11-year-old girl and a 62-year-old woman, who was working as a crossing guard, were injured in the crash.
Officers said the driver who hit the pedestrians was rendering aid to the crossing guard.

The crossing guard suffered injuries to her head and upper body while the child was released to her family and treated at an area hospital for minor injuries.
Police said the crossing guard was still being evaluated at an area hospital as of Thursday. Because she was working as an Orem City employee at the time of the crash, the Utah Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
A witness told KSL TV said it was in a school zone and the 20 mph lights were flashing. The intersection is located about a half-block from Orem Elementary School.
City officials said they are in discussions to potentially place a temporary signal at the location and could take further measures after UHP’s investigation concludes.
