SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake County man who described himself as a “pervy pedo,” according to police, has been arrested and accused of soliciting numerous pictures from young girls online.
Calin Gail Larson, 28, was arrested by the state’s Internet Crimes Against Children task force on Tuesday for investigation of 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
The investigation began on Oct. 31 when police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Endangered Children about someone uploading suspected child pornography to a social media account.
Investigators served several search warrants and learned Larson was the person with the social media account, according to a police booking affidavit.
“Through the course of the investigation, ICAC investigators found an additional 16 images of (child pornography) on Calin’s social media account. Investigators also found many online chats through the social media platforms on Calin’s account, where Calin solicits child pornography from many girls who identify themselves as children between 11-17 years old,” the affidavit states.
Investigators also noted that in some of those online chats, Larson “described himself as a pervy pedo,” the affidavit states.
On Tuesday, investigators served a search warrant at Larson’s home and questioned him.
“Calin admitted to exchanging child pornography with around 60 girls who identified themselves as minors in the past month and a half, and even after his social media account was suspended he started a new account with the same platforms and continued to exchange and receive child pornography,” according to the affidavit.
