Man in custody, shelter in place lifted in Tooele neighborhood

TOOELE, Utah — A shelter-in-place order was lifted Thursday late afternoon after a SWAT incident was resolved peacefully. Police confirmed a man is now in custody.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a call in Tooele where a man has been firing shots from his home.
The scene was in the Deer Hollow area just off Skyline Drive.
KSL photojournalist Derek Peterson was told a neighbor reported 20 shots fired near Deer Hollow and Skyline.
The man was in and out of the home and police said the man has fired more than 20 shots from a rifle.
Authorities used reverse 911 to tell neighbors in the area to shelter in place.
In a tweet Tooele Police said, “If you are in the area please shelter in the basement and avoid windows. If you live in the area please make plans as you will not be able to return home at this time. No fly area for drone traffic.”

The Tooele Police and Sheriff departments have responded as well as the Utah Highway Patrol.
