SALT LAKE CITY — One person was taken into custody and police are searching for a driver who allegedly crashed into three parked vehicles in a stolen truck before fleeing the scene on foot.
Officials with the Salt Lake City Police Department said an officer saw the truck driving recklessly around 9 a.m. Monday on 1700 South near 900 West.
“As the officer alerted dispatch about the reckless driving, the driver lost control and drove off the road and crashed into three parked cars,” police said.
Two people who were in the stolen truck fled the area on foot, and police surrounded the area. The truck’s passenger, identified as 24-year-old Kalie Valentine, was taken into custody.
Officers said the driver, identified as a 29-year-old man, had not been located as of 12:45 p.m. Monday. However, his name is known to authorities.
Police said the truck was stolen on Nov. 29 in Magna. One officer sustained a non-life-threatening injury while chasing the driver.
Valentine will be booked into jail on one count of failure to stop at the command of a police officer and outstanding warrants.
