UINTAH COUNTY, Utah — All schools in the Uintah School District are starting two hours later than normal on Tuesday due to inclement weather.

“The delayed start should allow state, county and city crews the time needed to plow roads and streets, making them safer for students and staff to get to school,” read a Monday afternoon press release from the district.

Under the protocol:

  • All schedules begin two hours later than their normal start time, including work schedules for district employees.
  • Buses will arrive at bus stops two hours later than usual.
    • For example, a regular bus pick-up time at 6:35 a.m. becomes an 8:35 a.m. pick-up time.
  • Half-day kindergarten and Central Cove Preschool won’t be hold, but full-day kindergarten will be held.
  • School breakfast will be served as a grab-n-go meal in the classroom.
  • Dismissal of school in the afternoon will be at the regular time.

According to the release, Tuesday’s delay could be changed to a school closure day if conditions worsen.

“If online instruction is possible during a school closure, a makeup day will not be needed,” the release added.

Updates or changes can be found on the Uintah School District Facebook page, as well as through SchoolMessenger.
