Teen girl dies after collapsing at Diamond Ranch Academy

HURRICANE, Utah — A 17-year-old girl is dead after collapsing at a residential treatment facility for troubled teens in Hurricane Wednesday afternoon.
According to a press release from the Hurricane City Police Department, the teen had been sick when she collapsed at Diamond Ranch Academy at 4:58 p.m.
Staff at the school performed CPR while police officers and medical personnel from the Hurricane Valley Fire District responded to the scene. When emergency personnel arrived, they continued CPR. Their efforts were unsuccessful and the student was pronounced dead.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, adding that they are working with the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner to determine a cause of death.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
