West Valley City police seeking person of interest in shooting death

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Police are seeking a person of interest in connection with the shooting death of 20-year-old Xavier Bernal in West Valley City.
The individual was identified Saturday as 21-year-old Dylan Gregorio Upshaw. He is described as 5 feet 7 and 140 pounds, with dark brown hair and brown eyes.
“Investigators believe that Bernal and Upshaw met outside the Redwood Apartment complex on the evening of Dec. 27, 2022,” read a press release from the West Valley City Police Department.

Police said Upshaw lives at the apartment complex where the shooting took place. His girlfriend, Aracely Hernandez Guzman, also lives at the apartment. She has not been seen since the fatal shooting.
“Investigators believe the two may be together,” the release stated.
