MURRAY, Utah — Heavy snow led to problems not only on Utah’s roads but in a few parking lots to start the new year.
Lt. Paul Barker with the Unified Police Department said emergency crews were called out to the Revolve Apartments around 1 a.m. Monday after a carport collapsed.
Four cars were under the carport and Barker said the way it collapsed was blocking the stairwell for one of the buildings.
No injuries were reported, and the Unified Fire Authority’s heavy rescue team was helping take the carport apart to clear the stairwell and assess the damage to the vehicles.

Another carport collapsed over the weekend, damaging several cars at a West Jordan apartment complex.
Battalion Chief Jared Price with the West Jordan Fire Department said the carport caved in due to heavy snow, and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters estimated that at least 11 cars had severe damage.
