Details about what happened with police nearby the school were not immediately available.
KSL TV’s earlier story continues below.
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Granger High School has been placed under lockout protocol due to suspicious circumstances in the nearby area involving police searching for a suspect.
That means the outside of the building is secured so no one can come on or off campus. However, classes and lunchtime are able to proceed as normal.
According to the Granite School District, the high school is following the protocol “out of an abundance of caution.”
Ben Horsley, director of communications and chief of staff for the Granite School District, added, “We are just securing the campus to make sure that that individual can not come in to our school.”
He said they do not believe there is any potential threat or concern to other neighboring schools.
Additional details about the suspect and what prompted the lockout were not immediately available.
