FARMINGTON — Officials have identified the man killed by a falling crane while working at a construction site near I-15 in Farmington on Monday morning.
Darren Baddley, 42, of Gunnison, was identified as the victim by Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Brian Peterson on Tuesday. Baddley was a member of the West Davis Highway crew that was working near the highway.
Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Mike McKay said the fatal incident happened at a worksite along Interstate 15 near Glovers Lane at approximately 9 a.m.
“This morning there was a fatal construction incident involving a member of the West Davis Highway project crew,” the Utah Department of Transportation said in a social media post Monday. “Two lanes of SB I-15 are currently closed. Utah’s transportation community is extremely close (knit), and we all mourn the loss of this dedicated teammate.”
Utah Highway Patrol troopers said workers had been taking down a crane, which fell and struck Baddley.
The lanes reopened around noon. The incident remained under investigation.
