One person dead in pedestrian-garbage truck collision in Tooele

TOOELE — One person has died Friday following a collision between a garbage truck and a pedestrian, according to the Tooele Police Department.
Cpl. Colbey Bentley said the incident occurred in the area of 975 N. Main Street.
According to police, the victim was a male in his 50s, who was riding a bicycle southbound.
Emergency personnel were notified of the crash around 1:20 p.m. First responders were on scene within one minute of being notified. However, the bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Southbound lanes of traffic were closed for more than two hours, while police investigated the crash. While the lanes have been reopened, the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
