PARIS, FR — The United States played in the quarterfinals for the first time in 24 years, and on that roster, was Eden, Utah’s Taylor Booth.
The United States was facing the winners from Group B., Morocco. Team USA didn’t create very many opportunities on the offensive side of the field, and time of possession was dominated by Morocco.
In the 29th minute, Morocco was awarded a penalty kick and easily converted for the 1-0 lead.
Then in the second half, Morocco scored three more, to easily win 4-0, ending the Olympic run for the U.S. in men’s soccer.
Taylor Booth played in the final 30 minutes. The kid who left Utah when he was 17 to pursue a professional career in Europe, is just proud he had this experience. He’s glad he could be an example for all the young soccer players back in Utah.
“Have everyone else supporting me, it’s special,” Booth said.
