Driver kills pedestrian, flees and hits another car in Ogden, police say

OGDEN — A man is in police custody after fatally hitting a pedestrian and striking two cars Friday afternoon.
According to the Ogden Police Department, several police agencies received reports of a suspected DUI driver in the area of 42nd Street and Harrison Boulevard.
“At 5:29 P.M., officers from multiple jurisdictions were searching the area and were advised that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle matching the description of the suspected DUI driver at 20th and Harrison,” the police news release stated.
Police said the driver fled and struck another car at 12th and Harrison Boulevard. Officers were able to take the driver into custody without further incident at the crash.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was crossing at the intersection with the light when the suspect vehicle struck and pushed another vehicle into the pedestrian and fled,” Ogden police said.
According to police, the pedestrian that was struck was a 64-year-old man who was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. The man later died at the hospital.
Police said the occupants in the car at 12th Street suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The suspected DUI driver only suffered a light scratch to the head.
