Firefighters respond to Kamas house fire

KAMAS — Firefighters responded to a house fire in Kamas Saturday. Luckily, it appeared to first responders that nobody was home.
A spokesperson for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office said the South Summit Fire Department responded to a house on Splendor Valley Road at approximately 1:30 p.m. They described the building as a single-family home.
The spokesperson said a 911 call came in from someone who saw flames pouring out of the chimney, then spreading to the roof. They said officials were not currently aware of any victims, but said that could change as more information about the fire comes to light.
It was not immediately clear what caused the fire, or how much damage was done to the house.
