Clinton Police Confirm Active AMBER Alert After Mother Of Missing Baby Releases Statement

UPDATE: The AMBER Alert was canceled Friday evening.

Original story continues below.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The mother at the center of an AMBER Alert released a declaration through her attorney.

The AMBER Alert was activated Nov. 20 when Taylor Webb reportedly took her 3-week-old daughter, Audrey Westfall, from the home of the baby’s grandmother. The grandmother has court-ordered custody of the child.

An attorney representing Webb released a statement Nov. 21 titled “Declaration of Taylor Webb.” In the 28-page document, Webb disputes that the grandmother has legal guardianship of the child.

“I was able to escape from my mother’s home on November 20th,” according to the declaration. “I am now safe and sound, as is my child, in California.”

Webb also stated that she was in a medically-induced coma due to complications from the birth in California and that was the reason her mother had temporary guardianship.

Clinton police said they have received the document, but they haven’t confirmed Webb’s story. They said it appears the order granting guardianship to the infant’s grandmother is still active.

Stoker said the infant has yet to be located and her safety hadn’t been verified by any official entity.

He noted that attorneys are credible, but he listed official entities as being law enforcement or Child Protective Services.

When Clinton police began investigating this case, there were aspects of it that had taken place out of state, Stoker said. All of the information given to them by other law enforcement agencies were taken into consideration before officials issued the AMBER Alert.

Following Webb’s declaration, CPD has been communicating with agencies in California to clarify details in the statement.

“We’re consistently trying to evaluate everything that we’re getting along the way,” he said.
