WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A terrifying morning for dozens of residents at a Salt Lake County mobile home park after a 5.7-magnitude earthquake rocked the Wasatch Front, destroying or severely damaging 48 homes in the park.
The damage occurred to the Western Estates mobile homes located along 7200 West and about 2600 South.

“Fear and panic. It was shaking so bad, everything was just shifting,” said a very shocked Noel Johnson when speaking about what she felt just after 7 o’clock in the morning. “It felt like chaos — lights flickering, and it was just loud.”

Johnson’s home was damaged — from cracked walls, to fallen debris, to the foundation of her home being knocked off its platform — by the quake.
“I’m just fortunate everybody is okay,” she said.
KSL was recording video inside the home of Shauna Mangum, who was on oxygen because of earlier health problems, when an intense aftershock hit. The video showed the house swaying back and forth. Mangum said it brought back memories of earlier in the morning.

“It was so loud and I was screaming and my husband was holding me,” said Mangum. “It was horrible, absolutely horrible.”
Liliana Morales, a single mother of three kids, was at work and came home to find her entire kitchen in complete disarray. Food was everywhere and much of it completely destroyed because of broken glass and other debris.
“It’s hard it’s really hard, I work two jobs and try to do what I can to keep food for the kids,” she said tearfully. “It’s really hard.”
